Back in 2017, the first Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins was an absolute blockbuster and a huge success. Now the Amazon princess is returning to the DC universe.
Once again starring Gad Gadot as Wonder Woman and Patty Jenkins as director, “Wonder Woman 1984” is scheduled to hit theaters on June 4, 2020. The plot, as the title suggests, takes place after World War 2 in the 1980s. More precisely, “Wonder Woman 1984” takes place at the time of the Cold War.
In the 1980s, the United States and the former Soviet Union have been in conflict for many years, a conflict that could end in another war at any moment. Into this conflict the title character is “thrown” and gets to deal with Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig. on top of that, her lover Steve Trevar (Chris Pine), thought dead, mysteriously reappears.
The film is said to be a sequel to the 2017 Wonder Woman movie and will be part of the DC Extended Universe. As for the genre of the film, we don’t really need to say much: fantasy, adventure and a lot of action!
In general, you can already expect great, because not only content comes a lot on us, but also the soundtrack lets us hope for something terrific, because none other than Hans Zimmer was entrusted with this task!
The content
The world is in a cold war, divided into two parts. USA against the Soviet Union, West against East. Civil society is divided, families are arbitrarily separated, and no one knows how things can continue in the long term. In addition, there is the absolute and ever-present threat of nuclear annihilation of all.
Diana Prince, disguised as a flower seller, is drawn into the conflict when British anthropologist Barbara Ann Minerva transforms into Cheetah.
It is still unclear how this conflict fits into the larger context of the Cold War.
Surprisingly, and perhaps confusingly, Diana Prince’s first love interest returns, despite the fact that she sacrificed herself in the first installment.
The cast

Review – The world in the 1980s
In the 1980s, the Cold War was slowly coming to an end, but despite everything, the situation still threatened to escalate at this time.
After the Afghan war in 1979, which cost both sides a lot of resources, the former Soviet Union found itself in a severe economic crisis in the 1980s. Mikhail Gorbachev decided to reshape the state with the help of the “Glasnost and Perestroika” reform program.
At the same time, the Soviet leader negotiated with the American President Ronald Reagan the INF Treaty, which provided for the disarmament of all short- and medium-range missiles of both sides.
As a result of Soviet reforms and the associated rights of self-determination, more and more Eastern Bloc countries declared themselves independent of the USSR (then the Soviet Union) and broke away from it during this decade.
The Cold War ended in 1991 with the final collapse of the Soviet Union.
